Glenhill Consulting has been engaged on IFC and NZODA assignments in the Philippines, Lao PDR and Indonesia to assess the value chains of numerous rural commodities to determine bottleneck areas where potential targeted assistance could benefit businesses in the value chain from producer to markets.

Commodities / sectors researched include: Asparagus, Bananas, Cashew Nuts, Coffee, Cocoa, Coconut Rehabilitation, Oil Palm, Organic Vanilla, Peanuts, Pineapple, Rubber, Sericulture (silk), and Shallots.

Rural Enterprise Project Identification and Design

Three IFC assignments identified potential project options in the Philippines and Indonesia and provided goals, objectives and potential outcomes for the IFC to select and further develop.

The Lao Sericulture Value Chain was researched and a complete project designed for a successful NZ$500,000 grant from New Zealand’s Asian Development Assistance Facility (ADAF).

Jock Struthers was engaged by Nimmo-Bell to assist with the review of the Philippine milk industry and to provide options for a suitable NZODA project leading to project design.
